The Long Tail of Information Security (Part 2)

August 5, 2007

My last post The Long Tail of Information Security (Part 1) described why I think information security exhibits Long Tail economic characteristics, outlined the three forces of long tail markets and discussed the first, democratization of tools for production. The intent is to provide an insight into what the future of information security may look [...]

The Long Tail of Information Security (Part 1)

August 4, 2007

I have just finished reading the Long Tail by Chris Anderson (editor of Wired). It is brilliant and the best book I have read in several years. Its in the same class as Freakonomics and The Tipping Point.  I highly recommend anyone who reads my blog reads the Long Tail if they haven’t already done [...]

Naked Security Again

March 22, 2007

SlideShare are having the words best presentation competition.
My Naked Security deck has been viewed nearly 800 times in the last 3 weeks. Of course this deck was designed to be the back drop for a speaking event and not as a brochure so it’s doesn’t translate perfectly to an online forum like SlideShare, but please vote [...]

Of course I am not the first to get the sharp tongue (see the last sentence) of the host of the SBN Alan Shimel, or the first to reply (Amrits blog is [...]

Career Guidance Quote For Friday

March 9, 2007

David Dibble used to be the EVP of Schwab Technology and had the big corner office on the opposite side of the floor to my pathetic cube in the 211 Main St. building in San Francisco (overlooking the Bay Bridge).
I forget the circumstances but he once passed on a great quote which in turn I pay forward as often [...]

March 8, 2007

I don’t claim to be a brilliant manager at all. I like to think I am a pretty good leader but thats a different skill than managing. I am far from a perfect person. In fact it’s reflecting on my mistakes of managing in the past and contemplating what I will do better next time that [...]

It’s a shame such a great technology idea maybe hindered by such a bad business idea. Getting the .com is surely one of the first steps.
