Satellite Internet Content Removed
Why? My wife and others made some really good points last night and having slept on it I agree. I have a rapidly growing blog focused purely on quality information security and why risk that focus with nonsense about the art of blogging or terrible service from a service provider. People will find out about slow speeds of Internet usage and the way that company treats their customers for themselves. Focus on what you do best, information security and building great software companies. It’s just not worth getting distracted by other peoples incompetence. The posts have been moved to private. The EFF are superb by the way and I urge any bloggers to join them.
For the record I refuse to take any money in way of refund or otherwise for taking this content down. My thoughts and comments can’t be bought at any cost. If Bentley Walker wanted to do the right thing they would refund the 6,000 Euros to the British Epilepsy Society by way of a charitable donation. My mother died of an epileptic attack a few years back.

Mark- Actually a little sad to here this. When I started blogging Brad Feld (feld.com) sort of mentored me. Brad has a widely successful blog with about 10k subscribers. One of the things he told me is that you have to make your blog “your own” with your own personal stamp on it. You need to sometimes move out of the “subject matter” of your blog and let people see who you really are. Blogging is such a new medium that there are not a lot of hard and fast rules, however the personal element is I think an important piece of it. Another VC related blogger who helped me is Fred Wilson. Fred’s A VC blog (AVC.com) is probably one of the top blogs out there. Fred also follows the same sort of formula that Brad espouses, mixing in some personal stuff.
I think as you blog longer you are going to go through phases about how you feel about this, but for what it is worth that is the advice from two people who have been very successful blogging.

Thanks for the comment. It is sad and I actually feel like a bit of a cop oput for taking it down. Especially as I started to get lots of emails from folks who had similar bad experiences (some cases much worse) with Benltey Walker. But it was starting to get distracting and when people start brandishing law suits I think you have to decide if the content is worth fighting for.
What I would give to have Brad Feld as a mentor. Any chance of an intro? I am following yours and many others BTW. There is so much to learn.
Alex (my new software security architect) and I are planning to start the Diary of a Start-up tag which will follow the trials and tribulations of our early stage startup, from looking for funding, building the prototype etc. We think it will be a compelling insight into a startup.
